Yes. You can apply for credit transfer through our Credit Accumulation and Transfer (CAT) process.

To be considered, the modules you’ve completed must cover similar content, learning outcomes, and assessments as those in our diploma. You’ll need to submit an official academic record, module descriptions, and a reference letter from your current institution.

Please note: no more than 50% of the total credits can be transferred, and each request is reviewed on a case-by-case basis. CAT applications close on 31 October 2025.

If you’re eager to develop strong drawing skills, are curious about people and the world around you, have a passion for visual storytelling, and are willing to put in long hours to bring characters and stories to life, we invite you to apply.

Experience in art and drama will support the more creative aspects of animation, while mathematical and logical thinking skills will benefit those looking to focus on the technical side. If you want to explore specific areas of animation or sharpen your skills, our short courses can help you develop and grow where you need it.

There are no entry requirements for our short courses. Simply complete the application form and upload your proof of payment.

Our short courses are ideal for:

Students registered for the Diploma in Digital Animation who want to take their skills to the next level with specialised training

Recent graduates of the Diploma in Digital Animation who want to refine their skills and build their portfolio

Professionals in the animation or related industries who want to learn new animation techniques and develop their skills in other areas

If you are an international applicant and English is not your first language, you must provide proof of English proficiency. This can be a pass in English at A-level or O-level, a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of at least 550, or a 6.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

Yes. If you’re 23 or older and have relevant experience in the field, you may apply through our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process. You’ll need to follow the usual application steps and request the RPL application when you submit your portfolio. Applications for RPL also close on 31 October 2025.

"Studying at The Animation School was a really cool experience.

The academic staff take great care of their students, while still maintaining an excellent level of course content. They provided us with a lot of breathing room to do our own thing, yet always made sure that the fundamentals were being drilled in. I learned a lot and I had a blast doing it."

Gerhard van der Merwe
